An Accra Circuit Court has granted bail to Evans Eshun, popularly known as Ebo Noah, as he faces criminal charges related to the publication of false information that authorities say caused public fear and panic.

The court, presided over by a Circuit Court judge in Accra, admitted Ebo Noah to bail in the sum of GH¢100,000 with two sureties, one of whom is required to provide justification. The case has been adjourned to March 18, 2026, to allow the prosecution to continue its investigations and for further proceedings to take place .

Ebo Noah, a self-styled prophet and social media personality, was arrested by officers of the Ghana Police Service following widespread public attention to his claims that a global flood would occur on December 25, 2025, leading to catastrophic destruction. He shared the prophecy extensively on social media platforms and constructed structures he described as “arks,” which he claimed would provide refuge for believers.

The predicted disaster did not occur, prompting public concern and scrutiny from security agencies. Prosecutors allege that his actions constituted the publication of false news likely to cause fear and alarm, contrary to Ghanaian law .

Prior to the granting of bail, the court had remanded Ebo Noah into police custody and ordered that he undergo a psychiatric evaluation to determine his mental fitness to stand trial. That evaluation formed part of the court’s preliminary processes before the bail decision was made .

The prosecution maintains that Ebo Noah’s social media activities had the potential to mislead the public and disrupt social order, while his legal team has argued that he is entitled to bail and the presumption of innocence until proven guilty.

The case has generated significant public debate, with discussions focusing on the limits of religious expression, the responsibility of social media influencers, and the enforcement of laws against misinformation in Ghana.

Ebo Noah is expected to reappear in court on March 18, 2026, as the trial process continues.
