Members of the Soviet- Trained Graduates Association of Ghana (SOTGA) have outlined a series of institutional priorities aimed at strengthening the organization, including proposals for rebranding, the election of new executives and a planned engagement with the Ambassador of the Russian Federation to Ghana.
The decisions emerged from a meeting held on Sunday, August 23, 2026, at the SSNIT Guest House in Accra, which brought together 10 members to review recent activities and discuss the organization’s future direction.
A major item on the agenda was a report on activities surrounding the funeral of the late Dr. Narh. Members reviewed the organisation’s participation in the funeral and related arrangements, reflecting on the support and coordination provided during the period.
The meeting also reviewed a report from the re-organizing committee, with discussions focusing on the committee’s work, progress made and measures required to improve coordination and participation in future activities.
Attention subsequently shifted to the broader future of the organization. Members acknowledged the need to strengthen SOTGA’s institutional identity and public positioning, with rebranding identified as an important consideration as the group seeks to enhance its relevance, visibility and effectiveness.
The meeting further agreed on the need for fresh executive elections in the very near future. The proposed elections are expected to provide the organization with a renewed leadership mandate and establish a clearer governance structure for the implementation of its programmes and strategic objectives.
Another significant proposal discussed was an official visit to the Ambassador of the Russian Federation to Ghana in Accra. Members considered the engagement important to strengthening institutional relations and exploring areas of mutual interest and cooperation.
Participants emphasized that the organization had reached an important stage where stronger leadership, clearer structures and a renewed strategic identity would be necessary to sustain its activities and expand its influence.
The August 23 meeting therefore marked an important step in SOTGA’s efforts to reposition itself, strengthen internal organisation and prepare for a new phase of leadership and external engagement.
Further consultations are expected to determine the timetable for the proposed executive elections, the direction of the rebranding exercise and arrangements for the planned engagement with the Russian Embassy in Accra.
